Czech Academy of Science Cold War Seminar

I was invited to speak at the international seminar “Rethinking the Cold War in Asia: Experiences, Perspectives, Concepts,” organized by and held at the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, the Czech Republic from 30 September to 1 October 2019. In the seminar, I presented a paper, “Unlearning Cold War Narratives: Examining Recent Cold War Historiography,” in which I reviewed recent scholarship on the Cold War, identified fundamental problems faced in recent years, and made five suggestions for future studies of the Cold War and the discipline of history in general. This is part of my ongoing research project, “Reconceptualizing the Cold War: On-the-Ground Experiences in Asia.”
